This paper describes the result of the Spanish linguistic competence evaluation applied to students of the Universidad Católica Sedes Sapientiae”™s Programa Magisterial de Formación de Docentes en Educación Básica Intercultural Bilingí¼e in Atalaya city (Ucayali), during the 2015 academic period. The aim of this study is to show the level of Spanish acquisition in the students to, later, apply a methodological proposal through the syllabus for the three fi rst years of studying. In this work, the methodology applied to measure the level of linguistic competence will be explained through the elaboration and application of a test. Moreover, this paper compares the results obtained in the fi rst and fi nal applied test to visualize how students have improved in the acquisition of Spanish as a second language. Finally we suggest some recommendations to develop and improve the university teaching of Spanish in a bilingual context.
