The present article tries to demonstrate that the so called Catholic Universities are indispensable instruments of the Church to carry out his evangelizing and cultural work from the recreation, diffusion and valuation of her (s) culture (s) developed (s) concerning the University. For it, there has checked the Apostolic Constitution Ex Corde Ecclesiae (ECE), on the Catholic Universities. The above mentioned document, written for saint John Paul II, will be the principal material for the demonstration of this position. Likewise, in the development of this work the following topics will be observed: (a) the bases eclesiales and historical of the University, (b) the sense that they handle so many saint John Paul II as the studies of the Social Sciences on the culture and (c) the legacy that represents for the Catholic Universities the writing of this saint as for the culture. He will conclude, this way, in the visionary position of the Pontiff on the formation of the students in interaction with the evangelizing work of the Church. Of equal form, it will be reaffirmed in the Ex Corde Ecclesiae, as letter of introduction of the scientific Christian world to be able to promote a “catholic culture”, a “culture of the life”, in contraposition to that one that saint John Paul II named a “culture of the death”.
