Abstract

This article describes the state of the scientific literature, in the 2015-2020 period, on the impact of the pension system on the labor market. Therefore, the PRISMA methodology was used for the systematic search and selection of scientific papers. As a result, 40 150 articles were found in the different academic databases and repositories. Also 16 papers met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of these investigations, 43.8% conducted an exploratory study of the social security system and, approximately, three manuscripts were published per year. While there is extensive literature showing various problems regarding the level, coverage and efficiency of the pension system, other articles express the need for a comprehensive reform of the Peruvian social security system and propose different multi-pilar models. In this sense, further studies are needed to evaluate the impact of a multi-pilar reform on the welfare of contributors and pensioners.
