The study analyzes the attention to academic gaps in Peruvian university admissions through a bibliographic review of various authors, considering the different methods of supporting and supervising students at the beginning of their university education. The aim of this scientific article is to analyze the attention to academic gaps in Peruvian university admissions, using databases such as SCOPUS, Alicia, Scielo, and Google Scholar, and considering the main contributions of these studies. The conclusion is that, although universities have implemented leveling courses and induction programs in the first year to address students’ academic gaps, there is still a need to define the entry profile to identify the basic competencies that students admitted to an academic program must have to ensure their retention at the university.
