Abstract

The present article proposes and identification and classification of the audiovisual memory institutions that safeguard audiovisual documentation of the Cusco region for the creation of audiovisual heritage timeline. The specific objectives are to identify and explain the current situation of the institutions that safeguard audiovisual memory documentation in Cusco and secondly, to propose a typology of the memory institutions of Cusco that preserve audiovisual documentation, especially, film material. To identify the institutions, in-depth interviews have been conducted with a representative group of those responsible for audiovisual memory institutions that have preserved film material since the 1950s. The expected results are to make visible the precariousness in the management of memory institutions as well as the location of the audiovisual documentation with the highest heritage value. This article is intended to generate reflection and awareness of the need to improve the management of the archives for the preservation of our audiovisual heritage.
