Our interviewee was born on January 2, 1953 in the town of Monteagudo de las Vicarías in the province of Soria, Castilla region (Spain). When he was two years old, his family moved to Moncada in Valencia. At the age of ten he entered the Seminary of Valencia. From the age of 18 he studied, both in the seminary the subjects of Philosophy and Theology, and in the University of Valencia, Philosophy and Letters in the specialty of Pedagogy. He was ordained in 1977 at the age of 24. Later, he was sent to the Minor Seminary where he devoted himself to teaching subjects such as History and Literature. Later, he was delegated (for a period of four years) two parishes and an annex, these close to Xátiva: Novelé and Vallés. Later, Bishop Roca invited him to go on a mission to Cuba, but the proposal was not successful; then it is the Bishop of Valencia, García Gasco, who invites him to go on the mission to Peru with Father Vicente Folgado, which he accepts. He arrived in Peru on November 7, 1993, at the Santa María de la Providencia parish, accompanying the Valencian missionary, now deceased, Father Vicente Folgado. With him he founded the San Vicente Ferrer parochial school, which welcomes more than 2,500 students. Currently, Father Buendía holds the position of rector of the Universidad Católica Sedes Sapientiae, the first university in North Lima created at the initiative of the Diocese of Carabayllo. In this dialogue he explains to us the importance of keeping faith, hope and charity alive in complex times such as the pandemic and, furthermore, invites us to preserve, nurture, with the word of God, the confidence that our future lies in the hands of God.
