The Lower Urubamba is in the Amazon of southern Peru, province of La Convención in the department of Cusco. According to the floristic studies carried out since 1996 and based on the investigations carried out in recent years, as part of the environmental studies for the different Hydrocarbon Blocks and protected areas that are located in this region, it is known that the area hosts a high biodiversity. Lophophytum mirabile Schott & Endl. subsp. mirabile is registered for the first time for this area.
