Abstract

The exposition of the arguments developed in this article describes, in an organic way, the contributions of Joseph Ratzinger to the discussion about the essence of the university, its mission and the importance of the teacher. As a whole, the present work has been elaborated from the review of the writings that he has carried out in his different stages of life (professor, Archbishop-Cardinal and Pope), in order to be able to establish a diachronic dialogue with various authors, but respecting the only proposed theme. In this sense, here are the results obtained from a documentary research carried out from January to June 2021, whose purpose has been to be able to determine the idea of the University in Ratzingerian thought.
