This study refers to the phenomena of Nomophobia among university students, which can be defined as the irrational fear an student shows when the subject is unable to constantly use his or her cellular phone even when is not necessary. Consequently the person adquires various fears, like to be unable to receive or send out messages, to be disconnected from friends even if those individuals are physically in the same location, or to be connected to applications on social media on his/her cellphone evice.
The main characteristic of a nomophobic in addition to persistent fear is the individual”™s isolation that leads to decreased social contact and at the same time leads to collateral physiological issues.
The study of this socio- academic problem took place due to the interest to find out the cause of the dramatic increase of the number of students with this pathology linked to technology, the origin of the problem and it”™s relationship with the student”™s academic performance.
This object of this study is to analyze the main causes of Nomophobia among university students as well as to describe the social roots that stimulate this irrational fear this young population has of not having access to the cellular phone called Nomophobia and finally seeks to identify the individual causes the above mentioned students exhibit this pathology. The methods used include a national and international systematic source review linked to this problematic which is spreading among our young univerity students.
